Harry Belafonte, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Bob Marley, Jacques Brel,
Gary Cooper, Olivia Newton-John, Sidney Pollack, Lino Ventura, Paul Newman,

Jade Goody, surrounded by bodyguards, when she arrived in Mumbai for the Indian
version of Big Brother
Reality TV star Jade Goody has cancer, her spokesman said today. The news was
broken to the 27-year-old mother-of-two while she was appearing in the Indian
version of Big Brother.
The Sun reports Goody was called in to the Diary Room, where she spoke to her
consultant in the UK by telephone. She then burst into tears and ran into the
house in hysterics, telling housemates: "I have cancer".
She was immediately withdrawn from the show and is flying back home for
treatment.
Her spokesman told the Sun: "She went for tests and results have come back and
she has cancer of the womb.
"She was phoned up and informed. This is a massive blow for her."
The newspaper reports Goody had undergone hospital tests earlier this month
after her third cancer scare. It followed four mystery collapses.
It is believed she went on the Indian show to try to make amends after being
accused of racism on last year's Celebrity Big Brother.
The show features 12 Indian celebrities and is hosted by Shilpa Shetty, 33, the
Bollywood star who won the hearts of viewers after being bullied by Goody and
other housemates.
Goody was thought to be earning up to ẳ100,000 for her appearance on the show,
called Bigg (correct) Boss.
Ofcom received more than 50,000 complaints about Goody, Danielle Lloyd and
former S Club singer Jo ÓMearás alleged racist bullying, with Goody referring to
Shetty as "Shilpa Poppadom".
After Goody was evicted, she said she was "embarrassed and disgusted" by her own
behaviour in the house but denied she was a racist.
Goodýs money-spinning contracts dried up - her perfume, Shh..., was taken off
the shelves and publishers decided to drop a paperback edition of her
autobiography.
Gordon Brown, who was then Chancellor, was forced to defend Britain as a
"country of fairness and tolerance" and the TV star visited India, where her
effigy had been burnt during the race row.
Jade Goodýs cancer has spread further than expected
13/09/2008
Jade Goodýs cancer has spread further than expected, doctors have discovered
during an eight-hour operation to remove her womb.
Medics who carried out the hysterectomy found that the cancer had reached "Stage
Three" - a term used to describe when it has moved beyond the womb. The cancer
was discovered in a ligament muscle behind her uterus.
Before the operation, when they thought it was contained in her womb, the
reality TV star was given 95 per cent ođs of making a full recovery.
Now the ođs have dropped - but they are still said to be better than 50 per
cent.
Jade will have to undergo an intensive nine-week course of both chemotherapy and
radiotherapy to try to kill any remaining cancer.
Its hoped that as she has a thick head of hair she will not lose it all as a
result of the treatment.
Last night courageous Jade, 27, was still under heavy sedation in intensive care
at Londons Royal Marsden Hospital - with doctors yet to tell her the latest
findings.
A close friend said: "The hysterectomy was successful but they found the cancer
had spread. They had thought it was at Stage Two and contained in the womb. But
it is worse than that. Its not the news doctors were hoping for but they believe
they have removed all the cancerous cells and she has a decent chance of making
a full recovery."
Big Brother star Jade will be kept in hospital for two weeks. Then she can
return home but will return five days a week for chemo and radiotherapy
treatment.
Surgeons kept Jadés ovaries for hormonal reasons. Although she can no longer
have a child, technically her eggs could be used in a surrogate pregnancy.
However, her surgeon Ann Coxon would advise against doing so in case her ovaries
contained any cancerous cells.
Jade, who was on the Indian version of Big Brother when she was told about her
illness, has been unable to have visitors since she went under the knife on
Friday.
As she was being wheeled into theatre, she joked to nurses: "Dont turn me into a
man - I dont want a sex change, OK?"
In the next few days she may get a chance to see her sons, Bobby, five, and
Fređie, three, who have been staying with their dad Jeff Brazier, 29.
The pal ađed: "Understandably Jade was nervous before the operation. All her
boys have been told is that she has a poorly tummy. Jade asked that they be
brought to see her in hospital as soon as she comes round.
"The doctors have to talk to her first. If she is OK, then the kids can come and
see her."
Jadés jailed boyfriend Jack Tweed is waiting for news of the operation in
prison. He was sentenced to 18 months earlier this month for assaulting a
teenager with a golf club.
Jade has put on a brave face in public since discovering that she had the
life-threatening disease. At the time, she said: "Íve no control over this
disease and Ím bloody terrified.
"I am going to fight the damn thing every step of the way because I have two
beautiful boys who are my world.
"But I have to be realistic and face the possibility I might not see them grow
up."
Jadés mum Jackiey Buđen escorted her daughter to hospital for the operation. She
is expected to visit her today.
Meanwhile Jack, 21, may be allowed to speak to Jade by phone.
Although the couple split up earlier this year he has stuck with her through her
health problems - and Jade referred to him as "my rock" in a letter to the judge
in his case.
Jade, who lives in Essex, had suffered symptoms of cervical cancer for three
years - but her condition went undiagnosed. She was tested for ovarian cancer in
2004 and bowel cancer in 2006 and was given the all-clear.
In 2005 she was rushed to hospital after collapsing with stomach pains. The same
thing happened a year later. Tomorrow evening Living TV will air the episode of
Jadés fly-on-the-wall show Living With Jade, which was being recorded when she
collapsed earlier this summer."

cancer during her short stay in the house Photo: Rex Features
The former Big Brother contestant, 27, flew home from India this week after
doctors broke the news while she was on Indiás version of the show.
She said: "I asked my consultant what would have happened if Íd stayed for the
full three months of BB. I was told, 'Jade, you would have died'."
The mother-of-two will undergo a hysterectomy next week along with radiotherapy
and chemotherapy.
She revealed in an interview with The Sun she was told by doctors on Thursday a
large tumour in her womb may have spread to her blood stream - putting major
organs such as her liver and kidneys at risk.
She said: "Íve got no control over this disease and Ím terrified. I am going to
fight the damn thing every step of the way because I have two beautiful boys who
are my world.
"But I have to be realistic and face the possibility that I might not live to
see them grow up.
"I can't face telling my boys because they are so young. They think mummy has a
tummy ache."
Jade was told of the news in the diary room of the Indian version of Big Brother
- called Big Boss - six days ago.
She has been accused of mounting a cynical publicity stunt after she original
travelled to the country to make amends for after she was accused of racially
abusing Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty in last year's UK celebrity version of the
show.
She said: "Ím sitting her desperately trying to come to terms with the fact that
I might die, while people are out there accusing me of making my illness up.
"Call me a racist, call me a bigot, a chav, whatever - but don't call me a liar
over this."
She ađed: "Ím tortured by the fact people think this is a stunt. Since Big
Brother my life has been fashioned by publicity. But no way would I want anyone
to be in my shoes now. I have to try and brush that sort of stuff aside and
concentrate on living and getting well again."
Jadés Harley Street consultant, Ann Coxon, sad: "This lady is battling to stay
alive.
"She has serious second stage cancer and needs surgery as soon as possible. The
cancer is in an advanced stage and was diagnosed in the nick of time.

'Pale, yet radiant' Jade Goody is christened in hospital with her
sons
Rowan Walker
The Observer, Sunday 8 March 2009
Article history
Terminally-ill reality television star Jade Goody was christened yesterday
alongside her two sons in a "very short and emotional service", her publicist
said.
Max Clifford said the "very pale and fragile" Goody was in a wheelchair and
assisted by nurses during the service with her sons Bobby, five, and Fređy,
four, at the Royal Marsden Hospital in west London. Her mother, Jackiey Buđen,
and husband, Jack Tweed, were there, with other family members and close
friends.
Clifford said it was the last event Goody would do publicly. Doctors have told
Goody, who was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August 2008, that she has just
weeks to live.
She was christened in her hospital gown with her drip attached. "She finds it
very hard to stay awake for more than a few minutes but she stayed awake for the
20 minutes of the service," Clifford said. "It was a very positive atmosphere.
After each of the boys were christened everyone clapped and after Jade was
christened everyone clapped again." Goodýs sons arrived at and left the hospital
with their father, Jeff Brazier.
Goody has sold the picture rights of the christening and her recent weđing to
OK! magazine to raise money for her sons.
Clifford ađed: "She was sharp, totally focused and chatting to people. She was
as pale as a ghost, yet radiant. She is dying in the way she is living."
Dying Jade Goody Going Blind As Cancer Progresses
TERMINALLY-ill Jade Goody is losing her sight as cancer takes hold, it was
reported today.
Jade Goody, 27, can now only see out of one eye as her condition worsens,
according to reports.
Goody, who has been told she has only weeks to live, was diagnosed with cervical
cancer last August.
Jade is currently being cared for at the Royal Marsden Hospital, in west London.
One of Jadés friends said that the reality TV star hoped to return home to
Upshire, Essex.
"She wants to go home and be surrounded by family and friends - not in a
hospital bed," the friend said.
"Everyonés concentrating on getting the nurses prepared so that she can face the
pain at home."
Jade Goodýs husband Jack Tweed spent the majority of yesterday at her bedside,
Mr Clifford said.
Earlier, the star had woken to find a woman leaning over her clutching a hammer
at the hospital.
Police were called and arrested the 41-year-old suspect yesterday, but she was
eventually released from custody with no further action.
Jade Goody wants a public funeral
Jade Goody has said she would like a public funeral so all her well-wishers can
pay their respects.
In an interview with OK! magazine Jade, who has been diagnosed with terminal
cancer, said: "I have had so many kind messages from people over the past few
weeks and if people feel like they want to say their goodbyes to me, then I
would be happy for them to pay their respects."
Jade also said she was "devastated" she would not be able to watch her two young
sons grow up.
"I don't care what they do as long as they have a roof over their heads and keep
out of trouble and, most of all, be happy," she said.
The reality star was diagnosed with cervical cancer in August and has been told
by doctors that she has weeks to live.
Meanwhile, Jadés best friend and bridesmaid Kate Jackson told Closer magazine
that the reality star had been thinking of entering herself as a Mayoral
candidate just before she discovered she was ill.
Kate ađed: "She rang me up once and asked me why I had never told her that
anyone could run for Mayor of London. I said it had never come up. She said:
'Well then I can!' She actually looked in to it seriously just before she found
out she was ill. She would have made a great Mayor!"
